Asensio could make it to Liverpool after Pep Ljinders puts Spaniard on top of list to replace Firmino

Spain and Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio could be on his way to the Premier League at the end of the season, as he looks set to join English giants Liverpool. Asensio, who is regarded as one of the most naturally gifted and talented players of his generation, could be finally making a move away from the Los Blancos, where his playing time was dwindled quite a bit in recent years.

Asensio has reportedly decided not to renew his deal at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and is currently on the lookout for potential options, with Liverpool arising as a probable destination. Prominent journalist Jacque Talbot tweeted on his official Twitter handle that the Reds are interested in securing the services of the talented forward, as they deal with the departure of a wonderful servant of the club in Roberto Firmino, who has decided not to renew his deal. Talbot also revealed another huge piece of news in connection with Liverpool, as he reported that Newcastle United are zeroing in on Diogo Jota, who are keen to sign Jota despite the Portuguese just signing a contract extension last year. The versatile Jota has been admired by Magpies boss Eddie Howe, who reportedly feels that a proven Premier League goalscorer like him can help the squad greatly.

Asensio, who is currently being discussed at length by Liverppol, is vastly appreciated by the assistant manager Pepijn Ljinders, who is looking into a way of signing talented superstars, as he was heavily involved in the signings of Cody Gakpo and Darwin Nunez to Liverpool. Asensio can play as a No.10, as well as on either side of the flanks, as well as a centre-forward. Ljinders is a massive fan of the Spaniard and could well bring him to Liverpool if things go well for the Reds.

The two teams, which will have to reach a settlement in the Asensio deal, are set to be involved in a bidding war to secure the signature of Jude Bellingham. The Borussia Dortmund star has predominantly been sought after by many clubs, including Manchester United and Real Madrid. Follow NextBet Sports for more updates from the world of football.
