Chelsea’s bid to sign Dominik Szoboszlai could spell the conclusion of Mount’s career at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea’s exploits in the transfer market are showing no signs of stopping, with the Blues now being linked to the enormously talented Dominik Szoboszlai over a potential transfer move in the summer.

The Hungarian is just one of the several names that are being associated with a move to Stamford Bridge, as the Londoners have undertaken a massive spending spree ever since the new ownership under American businessman Todd Boehly took over. Chelsea have already spent in excess of £500 million in the last year, signing a staggering number of players during that period. Chelsea also broke the Premier League transfer record with a €120 million move for Benfica’s Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernandez in the January transfer window.

The Hungarian Szoboszlai has been in supreme form for RB Leipzig under manager Marco Rose, as he has managed to cement his place in the Leipzig lineup ever since moving to Germany a couple of years back.

The 22-year old has been highly regarded by many top European clubs over the last year, and there might be the possibility of a move over the summer. Szoboszlai is extremely versatile, as he is able to play as a No.8 or in a playmaking role in midfield. He is also comfortable on either flank, making him a hugely valuable player.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano spoke about the links between the former Salsburg player and Chelsea, confirming the interest from the Premier League side but added that an agreement was not in the picture at the moment.

“We know that in the last 48 hours, we had some rumours about Dominik Szoboszlai this midfielder, Hungarian midfielder, from Leipzig, he’s always been in the Red Bull group, one of the biggest talents in his position.

From what I understand guys, there is nothing done for the future of Szoboszlai at this stage. Many clubs are following the player closely. It’s true that Chelsea appreciates the player. Chelsea have sent their people to follow the player, to scout the player but at the moment we can’t say that Chelsea are close to signing Dominik Szoboszlai.” Romano said.

This could signal the end of Mason Mount’s career at Stamford Bridge, a fact that seems to be corroborated by the impasse in the contract negotiations between him and Chelsea. Liverpool are reportedly the frontrunners to sign him, although many other clubs are believed to be interested in signing him. Get attractive betting odds on all Chelsea matches only on NextBet.
