Nitish Rana praises Rinku Singh for composed knock against Punjab Kings

Rinku Singh has been enjoying a stellar season in IPL 2023, showcasing his match-winning capabilities for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). In their last fixture against Punjab Kings on May 8, at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Singh once again guided his team home. Chasing a target of 180, KKR needed six runs off the final over with Singh and Andre Russell at the crease.

However, Arshdeep Singh’s tight bowling brought the equation down to two runs off the final delivery. Once again, Singh excelled under pressure and smacked the ball to fine leg for a four, securing another memorable win for his team. Singh walked to the crease in the 16th over, with KKR requiring 56 off 28 balls to win. He partnered with Russell, adding 54 runs off 27 balls for the fifth wicket, bringing their side to the verge of victory. Russell was awarded Player of the Match for his knock of 42 off 23 balls, while Singh remained unbeaten on 21 off ten deliveries.

Apart from Singh and Russell, KKR’s captain Nitish Rana scored a brilliant fifty (51 off 38), and Jason Roy scored 38 off 24 balls, helping KKR win the match by five wickets. Earlier, in the first innings, KKR restricted Punjab Kings to 179/7, with Varun Chakravarthy claiming three wickets for 26 runs in his four overs, while Harshit Rana scalped 2/33 in three overs.
