Ansu Fati trashes rumors of Barca exit; says he wants to be there for many years

Barcelona winger Ansu Fati is touted as the next big thing out of the much-revered Catalan academy, La Masia. The youngster already made his mark on the team and scored some vital goals, but injuries have kept him from regularly playing the game. As it stands, Fati is keen on securing his long-term future with Barcelona and trashed aside all the rumors of his exit.

The 20-year-old winger has played 21 of 22 league matches for the Catalan giants this season and has started only on eight occasions. Most recently, he started against Cadiz at the weekend where he came close to scoring on two occasions but impressed his manager with a successful pass percentage of 97%. He also provided one key pass in the build-up.

However, the moment that caught the media’s attention was when Fati was subbed off by his manager Xavi Hernandez in the second half. The young footballer seemed very frustrated as Angel Alarcon replaced him, but commented about his reaction after the match.

“I have a contract until 2027 and I want to stay for many more years. Yesterday, I left angry because sometimes I think that the fans at Camp Not, who support me so much, I’m not able to give back everything they give me. I’m very grateful and happy to be at the club I want,” Fati said.

In an otherwise well-rounded gameplay, Ansu Fati only needs to work on his finishing to stand a better chance of lasting longer at this historic club. Fati burst onto the scene in Europe for his ability to find the back of the net from ridiculous angles and half-chances but his tally of three goals in 861 league minutes so far shows the exponential fall in productivity.

In the summer of 2021, it was speculated that Manchester United was interested in signing Fati and was willing to pay a massive 100 million Pound fee to get the player to the Premier League.
Despite rumors suggesting that the player would leave, it was eventually revealed that Barcelona was determined to retain him at any expense, and he is now being further developed under the guidance of Xavi Hernandez.
