Manchester United to compete with five other Premier League clubs over Palhinha’s signing

Under Erik Ten Hag, Manchester United have emerged once again as serious challengers for the biggest prizes in English football as well as in Europe, as the Red Devils eye at least three trophies this season after already securing the Carabao Cup.

Despite a horror show of a start early on in the season, Dutch boss Ten Hag has managed to get his team quickly in order and has shown promise of taking the club back to its glory days, while they were under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. Bet on all matches involving Manchester United on M88.

With the Carabao Cup, United broke their five-year trophyless streak, last having won the Europa League under Jose Mourinho back in 2017. Notably, United also find themselves in an extremely good position in the Europa League as well, with a 4-1 first leg lead against Real Betis in the Round of 16.

Ten Hag’s success with United could perhaps be attributed in part to three of his new signings, including the likes of Lisandro Martinez, Christian Eriksen, and midfield veteran Casemiro. The three summer signings have been essential to the performances of the side, in addition to a few more players. However, the Dutchman’s time has only begun, and he is reportedly keen on adding a few more players to his squad over the summer, with Fulham’s Joao Palhinha being one of the names going around. Palhinha has been producing excellent performances under Marco Silva after signing for the newly promoted side last summer. The Portuguese midfielder has to his credit the most tackles made by a midfielder in Europe, which is only a testament to his quality. Such being the case, he is viewed as one of the ideal candidates to function as a backup for Casemiro, and an upgrade over the other players in a similar role currently at the club, such as the likes of Scott McTominay and Fred.

However, United will have to do battle with five other Premier League clubs in order to sign the youngster, if at all Fulham let him leave. Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Tottenham, and Liverpool are also believed to be very interested in pursuing a move for the Portuguese star.
