Matthew Hayden volunteers to help Australian batters tackle spin

The Australian men’s cricket team isn’t having the best times in India. Despite landing in the subcontinent with huge expectations, they failed to capitalize on their strengths and surrendered in both the Test matches against India within three days. The result meant that India retained the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time.

One of Australia’s key problems has been tackling spin bowling. Although there are a couple of good exponents of spin in Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, the likes of Usman Khawaja, David Warner, and Alex Carey are yet to get going in the series. To tackle that problem, reports suggest that Matthew Hayden is willing to offer the batters some expertise on playing the spinning ball. Bet on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Fun88.

Hayden, who scored 1,027 runs in India at an average above 50, mastered the art of sweeping the spinners whenever he came down to the subcontinent. This is one area where they could definitely take a lot of help from the former Australian opener, who is on media duties for the ongoing series. He went on to add that any former player would be willing to assist those in need. Enhance your betting experience on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with attractive Fun88 odds.

“One hundred per cent, at any time of the day or night, it is a given that I myself — and I’m sure I speak for anyone else that I represent that would have that kind of influence — would 100 percent be in,” Hayden said.

In the second innings of the second Test, where Australia were clearly heading towards a massive advantage, the batters started sweeping without intent, thus resulting in an ugly collapse. Australia were bowled out for just 113 runs despite being in a comfortable position at 65/1 at one point on Day 3 of the match. Ravindra Jadeja picked up his third 10-wicket haul in Tests, dooming the visiting side ruthlessly as India chased down a simple target.

After a short little break, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will resume in Indore. Although the third Test was originally supposed to be hosted by Dharamshala, it was moved to Indore due to some technical reasons. The third Test begins on March 1, followed by the final Test that will take place in Ahmedabad. Follow all updates related to Border-Gavaskar Trophy on Fun88 Sports.
