Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister may leave Brighton this summer amid interest from Arsenal and Liverpool

Following Brighton & Hove Albion’s dominant 3-0 victory over Arsenal on May 14, Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi has admitted that star midfielders Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister may depart the club this summer, with Liverpool and Arsenal vying for their signatures.

De Zerbi acknowledged that the club is preparing for the loss of some players during the transfer window, naming Caicedo and Mac Allister as possible departures, as he revealed in a statement to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano: “For sure, we will lose some players. Maybe Caicedo, maybe Mac Allister. We have to be ready to bring in more good players.”

Despite signing a contract extension through 2027 in March, 21-year-old Caicedo was the subject of interest from Arsenal in January, with the Gunners offering £70 million for his services. However, the bid was rejected by Brighton, who reportedly value the midfielder at £80 million. Caicedo has contributed two goals and assists in 39 appearances across competitions, becoming a vital asset in the centre of the Seagulls’ midfield with his relentless energy. In contrast, Mac Allister, 24, is reportedly being pursued by Liverpool after his impressive performances for Brighton and Argentina. Mac Allister has scored 12 goals and two assists in 36 games for Brighton, with two additional goal contributions in Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup victory. As Liverpool looks to revamp their midfield this summer, they may offer Mac Allister a contract worth £150,000 per week, tripling his current wages.

The potential loss of Caicedo and Mac Allister would undoubtedly pose a challenge for Brighton, who may need to seek out new talent to bolster their squad ahead of the 2023 Premier League season. However, their performances this season have caught the attention of several top clubs, and Brighton’s ability to develop promising players will likely make them a sought-after destination for young talent in the years to come.
