Sandeep Sharma will regret the no-ball forever: L Balaji

In a nail-biting match between Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2023, the latter team managed to secure a win in the final delivery, thanks to a no-ball call that went in their favor. Despite Rajasthan Royals dominating the game for most of the time, Sunrisers Hyderabad had the last laugh.

The match turned in their favor after Sandeep Sharma bowled a brilliant yorker, but unfortunately, the umpire called it a no-ball as the replay showed that the pacer had overstepped. In the following delivery, Abdul Samad hit a six, securing a victory for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Enhance your IPL viewing experience with attractive betting odds from NextBet.

Former Indian pacer Lakshmipathy Balaji expressed his thoughts on the incident, stating that Sandeep Sharma will always regret the no-ball call as it will continue to haunt him in the future. He added that although Sharma had done the job for Rajasthan Royals in the past, the no-ball ended up costing him the match this time.

“If we recollect the last over against CSK, Sandeep was able to pull back the game in the last three balls. Here he had another opportunity, but unfortunately, that no-ball cost him. He held his nerve and was able to keep things simple until the last ball was bowled. For a moment, he thought the match was over, but the sound of the siren came in a disheartening way. He will be regretting the no-ball forever. This one delivery will definitely be playing in his mind,” Balaji told Star Sports after the match.

Balaji also praised Glenn Phillips, the New Zealand stumper-batter, for his impressive performance against Rajasthan Royals. Phillips, who wasn’t getting many opportunities to showcase his talent, proved his worth by scoring 25 runs off seven deliveries. The team management decided to drop Harry Brook for Phillips, and he did not disappoint. Balaji expects the Sunrisers Hyderabad management to keep the faith in the talented cricketer. “I thought Glenn Phillips is a kind of player, who can take on the bowlers. Probably, SRH decided Phillips to go in the last three overs when you are chasing a big total. He made absolutely great connection with the ball and I am sure that had helped the Sunrisers to have hope in their batting lineup,” Balaji said.
